Differentiating of Simple Past tense and Present Perfec
Hello guys! Of course we do not strangle about tenses in grammar. What do you think about tenses? Exactly in your mind it will be formulas collection. Tenses is the verb form that shows the time of the action or state. There are 16 tenses, but in this time we will discuss simple past tense and present perfect tense.
- Simple Past Tense
Simple past tense is the verb form that shows a state or action in the past. In Simple past tense the form can be regular verb or irregular verb. It can be used with a duration which starts and stops in the past. Time signals : yesterday, one year ago, last week, one day, at that moment, this morning, etc. There are two kinds of simple past tense :
Verbal sentences
Formulas :
Positive : you brought my book yesterday to school.
-) you did not/ didn’t bring my book at the school.
?) did you bring my book yesterday to school.
Nominal Sentences
+) : Nina was a student two years ago.
-) : Nina was not a student two years ago.
?) : was Nina a student two years ago?
Example :
- I live in Brazil for two years.
- They sat at the beach all day.
- How long did you wait for them?

- Present Perfect Tense
Present Perfect Tense is an action happened an unspecified time before now. The verb form which expresses an action completed before a particular time in the present
Specific time such as : yesterday, one year ago, last week, one day, at that moment etc.
Unspecific time such as : ever, never, once, many times, before, several times, so far, already, yet, since ….., for…., etc.
There are two kinds of simple past tense :
Verbal sentences
Formulas :
+) : you have brought my book to school for two weeks.
-) you have not/ haven’t brought my book at the school for 2 weeks.
?) have you brought my book to school for 2 weeks?
Nominal Sentences
+) : Nina has been a student since two years ago.
-) : Nina has not been a student since two years ago.
?) : has Nina been a student since two years ago?
Example :
- I think I have met for one hour.
- A: has there ever been a war in the United State? B: yes there has been a war in the United State.
- Nobody has ever climbed that mountain.
